Hello. Here are some things you can read to get to know me better:
The short list:
I like to: learn new things, cook, listen to music, read books, watch movies and television, play games, take pictures of things, and hang out with my family and friends.
I’m an avid Pinterest user, so of course that means I have no life. I love cruising for new recipes to try and things I’ll never make. Check out my boards.
Photography: I dabble in photography. I’m no expert, but I know a few things about it. I just rolled past the 100,000 photo files mark in 2012. Even though I have shot a lot of photos I’m sure I’ll still be learning new things about my camera after having it for 20 years. I am a bit obsessive about learning new tricks. Once I see something cool I have to learn it!
I’ve free-lensed, experimented with HDR, light painting, time lapse, bokeh, macro and micro photography. I’ve created anaglyphs and PS brushes. I’ve shot the galactic plane of the Milky Way, various constellations, stars, and planets. I have some colorful blurs of Jupiter and Saturn. The Moon and I are not strangers either! Well from a distance anyway. Hey. I’m not a stalker. It likes to be looked at through a telescope from the dark side of my house. I’ve faked tilt-shift and countless other photo techniques. The Rule of Thirds? Actually, it’s more of a guideline than a rule. (Shameless quote – Ghostbusters 1984)
I use a Nikon D5000 (A birthday gift from my husband in March 2012), a Nikon D50 (I got this one back in February 2006) and a point and shoot Nikon L610 (which I got back in July 2013 to sneak into events and bring to places that don’t allow “detachable lens cameras” Don’t get me started.). I have five lenses so far. An 18 – 55 mm Nikkor lens, a 55 – 200 mm Nikkor lens, a 70 – 210 mm Minolta lens. a 35 – 70 mm Minolta lens (with both MInolta lenses I have to use an F to A converter. I started using these 30something year old lenses in December 2013), and a Lensbaby Muse. I have a few accessories for it, too: wide angle/telephoto kit, the super wide angle conversion lens, the macro kit, the creative aperture kit (old style with only the heart and star and aperture disks).
Music: I’ll tell you, that guy that invented music was really on to something! I like most styles and genres. Here’s my Spotify Starred list. At last count there were over 4100 tracks. This is a list of songs that I like and wouldn’t mind listening to again. Here’s my Spotify 5 Stars list. The songs on this list I can say that I really love. 437 tracks is last count for that playlist. Some of the music on my lists don’t show up because Spotify doesn’t have the rights to play them. Sorry. I still love Spotify to pieces, though.
Recently I’ve been attempting to learn to play guitar. I started on July 31, 2013. It’s pretty much one of the most difficult things I’ve tried to do. I attribute this to trying to learn badass songs with complicated solos first. What can I say? I’m a sucker for a good face-melting guitar solo. Needless to say I’m not very good so far, but I’m having a lot of fun.
Some of the songs I’m trying to learn on guitar right now include (click to listen):
Tenacious D – The Metal
Beatles – Blackbird
Albert King – Born Under A Bad Sign
Led Zeppelin – Since I’ve Been Loving You
Led Zeppelin – Stairway To Heaven
Led Zeppelin – Heartbreaker
Pink Floyd – Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Parts 1 – 5) [2011 – Remaster]
Kansas – Carry On Wayward Son.
Band on the Run – Wings
Gravity – John Mayer
Another thing I am passionate about is new music. I find this at Spotify, Last.fm, Bandcamp, Plug.dj, CD Baby, NoiseTrade, 8tracks and all over my local area. I can spend hours and hours looking for the next amazing song. :)
To be continued….? For sure.
