Rockus Maximus 17 Promo #1: Frostfang, Open Box Policy, Bane of Kings, Five Alarm Fire Band, Noelle Park, and Palmer Wolfenden at Regency Park Library in Port Richey – February 21, 2014

This show was part of the Rockus Maximus 17 Battle of the Bands. Four of the eight bands that will compete on March 28th gave some really awesome performances. Since Frostfang was playing Rob, Ed, Bobs, and I had to go see them!

First up was Bane of Kings. As you’ll see from the video below they get loud and right in your face with their style of metal.
Frostfang took the stage second. Fusing sounds from the past and present into an intricate and complex melodic heavy metal sound, their music is as intense as it is brilliant.
Open Box Policy: a raucous punk band, with a bit of ska on the side, went on third.  Bobs commented that they are one brass instrument from becoming Reel Big Fish. Accurate or not, I had to agree a little bit. There is a real rough and mischievous vibe that infuses into their music. With songs named after grandmothers, what’s not to like?
The last band, Five Alarm Fire Band, was a delight. They are six-piece band that wooed the crowd with classic and recent favorites and a song about rainbows.
I don’t envy the judges, they have some very difficult choices ahead of them!

In between the various rock acts, Palmer Wolfenden and Noelle Park entertained the showgoers with their acoustic melodies. These ladies both have stunning voices. Palmer serenaded the audience with her guitar, her powerful voice, and thoughtful, brazen lyrics. Noelle had such a bright and cheery presence as she sang along sweetly to songs with her ukulele. She also had some mad tambourine skills.

At about 8 minutes into Frostfang’s set my phone ran out of space. I was deleting apps and mp3s as fast as I could! Then my battery died, if you can believe my luck/poor camera phone prowess. This is why there are four separate videos of them and none of the last two bands. If I find more video I will post it here. Check back soon for stolen tidbits! If you have anything you’d like me to add here, feel free tell me in the comments. :)

Thank you to everyone for allowing me to photograph them and for putting on a super fun show!

  1. Pictures look amazing! Really appreciate you taking time to take some photos of us. I was wondering if you had any other shots of my band Open Box Policy because we’d love to have any other shots you managed to get. Once again, thanks for taking pictures

    • You’re very welcome! I’m glad you liked them!
I have about 260 in total, but they are mostly blurry or the mic is in someone’s face or there’s a weird face or someone’s blinking. The more a band moves, the more difficult to get a clear shot, but it makes for an interesting photo if everything works out. Is there anything in particular you’re looking for? That might help narrow it down.
