Both Shakey Graves and Shovels and Rope are so much fun to see live! If you ever get the chance, go see them. The show sold out so hopefully they will come back to see us in Tampa again soon.
Shakey Graves was up first and I know he made a fan out of everyone that showed up. His one-man-band sound is unforgettable and strongly reminiscent of traditional American folk and the Delta blues. Also, his suitcase drum is simply amazing.
Haven’t heard of Shakey Graves? Head on over to Bandcamp and check out his discography or watch this video.
Shovels and Rope are not only a rocking great folk duo, but they are such a sweet couple, too. I was pretty excited to hear all of the songs that I’ve only heard before via Spotify. Gritty and turbulent are two words I would use to describe their folksy/Americana sound. For two people they really put out a surprising amount of sound. Check them out on Spotify.
One of the equipment guys told me that after their shows they walk their dog around whatever city they are in. I thought that was adorable!
If you know part or all of either set list please finish them! Thanks. :)
